About
Vision Statement It is the GreenNet Project's vision that families participating in the project will develop self-sufficiency skills and abilities that will help them serve as examples of success and as agents of positive change in their communities. Mission Statement The Neighborhood GreenNet Project provides resident families of Santa Barbara Housing Authority with the experiences and opportunities to develop and practice positive and open communication patterns, planning skills, conflict resolution skills, and effective parental monitoring skills. As a family, participants will learn to use new communications technologies and develop green entrepreneurial projects through intergenerational exchange of knowledge and skills. GreenNet strategies include: - Engage families in gardening projects - Train families in the uses and applications of computer networking technology - Encourage youth members of participating families to serve as computer mentors for their parents - Help the residents use the neighborhood computer network to design small enterprise projects with a horticultural theme Expected Outcomes of the GreenNet Project GreenNet is working towards strengthened family-based assets among project participants, such as positive and open communication patterns, planning skills, and conflict resolution skills. As well as increased horticultural, computer, and entrepreneurial skills.
